Where do I send my payment and how do I make a payment online?
A reply envelope should always be included with your invoice. When using it, be sure that the address printed on the invoice shows through the window in the envelope. If you do not receive a reply envelope, mail payment to: Early Moments, 934 Plaza Drive, Montoursville, PA 17754-2400. For added convenience, you can make payments online via credit card or electronic check from our Web site by clicking on Make a Payment. Or, sign up to automatically charge your monthly payment to your credit card by calling 1-800-353-3140.
Can my monthly payment be automatically charged to my credit card?
Yes. Call us at 1-800-353-3140 and we will arrange to automatically charge your monthly payment to your credit card. Or, on the back of your invoice, you can check off the box that says, “Please charge all future shipments to this credit card.” Signing up for automatic credit card payment is the most convenient way to pay because it’s easy and it ensures uninterrupted service. We will send a confirmation with each package you receive, so you’ll never be surprised by a charge on your statement.
Why was I charged a Late Fee?
Most of our customers pay their bills on time which saves us a great deal of time and effort sending out reminders for amounts that are past due. In order to keep our prices low, we charge a late fee for all overdue amounts. This is not a finance charge. It is just a charge that helps us defer the cost of mailing payment reminders. Also note that overpayments on cancelled accounts are subject to a $1 per month fee.
How do I return a book I do not wish to keep?
We understand that every book we send might not be absolutely perfect for you. If you are not delighted with any package we send, return it to us within 30 days of when it was shipped by following these simple instructions:
- Call our toll-free Customer Care number to get a return authorization (RA) number. Write the RA number on the outside of the package you are returning and on the original invoice form that came with the package.
- Mail the package with the original invoice enclosed to: Early Moments, Department 7000, Louisville, KY 40266-7000
- Let us know if you want a credit to your account or a refund. Please note that, in order to keep our prices low for all members, the credit or refund on regular club shipments you return will reflect the full purchase price of the package you received less the shipping and handling costs. For Free Preview program shipments, we will credit or refund the full purchase price of the package including the shipping and handling costs. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse you for the cost of the return postage to us for regular club shipments, and we cannot accept returns of any books for any reason after 30 days or books that are returned to us without a return authorization number.
If you ever receive a book from us that’s not in perfect condition, please call our toll-free Customer Care number and let us know. We’ll send you a postage-paid label to return the damaged book to us and rush out a replacement at no charge as soon as we receive it.
Of course, the easiest way to avoid the hassle of returning is to preview your next package of books by logging on to My Page.
I received a bill for something I paid for or returned. What should
I do?
Sometimes, your payment reaches us after the due date and after we have sent a second bill. If you have paid for or returned a shipment and received a second bill for it, always compare the date of the bill against the date your payment was mailed. These are usually cross-in-the-mail type situations that can simply be disregarded. If you don't think we crossed in the mail, call us at 1-800-353-3140.
How do I cancel my membership?
Simply contact Customer Care and let us know you wish to cancel. No questions asked. If there are any packages on their way to you, the Customer Care Specialist you speak with will let you know that.
I received a shipment after I cancelled. What should I do?
Sometimes, a cancellation request does not reach us in time to prevent an additional shipment from being mailed to you. If this happens, you may pay for the shipment and keep it. Or, if you wish, you can follow the return instructions above.
Do you share customer information with any other companies or organizations?
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for a full understanding of how we treat the personal information with which you entrust us.
Why do you need my e-mail address?
For two purposes: First, to send you confirmation that your request for a Welcome Package has been received and accepted and then to send a confirmation once it has been shipped.
Second, if we encounter any problems setting up your membership or sending you packages, we will contact you by e-mail to help resolve the problem.
We may occasionally share your e-mail address with partner companies who we feel have a product or service that may be of interest to you. However, you can easily opt out of receiving this type of offer. This is most easily done by logging on to My Page and simply changing your e-mail preferences. Of course, you can also contact us by phone, mail, or e-mail. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.
How can I be sure to receive my club shipments uninterrupted?
Simply log on to the My Page section of this Web site, click on "My Profile" and follow the instructions to add your new address. Once it is added, you should select that address and all future shipments will be sent there. Or, if you prefer, contact Customer Care and let us know your account number along with your old address and your new address, and we will update your membership for you.
How does the Club Membership Work?
Each of our book programs starts with a Welcome Package, whether you are new to Early Moments or are starting your seventh club with us. A Welcome Package is our way of introducing you to a program by sending you an exceptional package at an amazing price. We do this to help make it easy for you to try our books, because most parents who receive a Welcome Package see the value in our exclusive expert-selected book programs and agree to become members.
However, if for any reason you are not delighted with your Welcome Package, keep any free gifts and return the rest to us for a refund. Or just pay for your package and simply call to cancel further shipments. You are under no further obligation to continue. Early Moments never has a purchase commitment.
Once you decide to keep your Welcome Package, you will become an Early Moments member and begin to enjoy all the benefits of membership. More importantly, membership in a club will support you and your child in a reading ritual that will become a cherished routine and provide a meaningful head start in your child’s language and literacy development.
About every four weeks, we will send a new book package to your home. It will contain two or three new books along with a personalized letter that explains the books in the package and provides suggestions for how best to share them with your child.
Some book programs work better when you get them all at once. In those cases, we will send you one or two monthly packages, then send all the remaining books in one shipment for your convenience, savings, and enjoyment. If we plan to do that, we will always inform you up front and stretch out the remaining payments so that you are not paying any more than you would have if we had shipped them monthly.
How does My Page work?
As a benefit of membership, you can manage your account online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by logging on to the My Page section of our secure Web site. Why do you need to know my child’s age?
What makes us different from all other book programs is our variety of books and book formats, and our ability to ship books that are specifically matched to your child’s age. We’ve spent more than 40 years researching how to do this and it is how we ensure that both you and your child will enjoy, be engaged by, and learn from every package we send.
Why do you need to know my child’s name and gender?
We ask for your child’s name and gender just so that we can personalize all of our communications to you. If you prefer not to provide this information, it will not impact the quality of your experience as an Early Moments customer.
Why read to babies when they are so young?
Literacy...the ability to read, write, and understand among other basic skills...begins right at birth. It emerges over time and does not just pop up during preschool. Reading with your baby supports the development of her language skills—an essential component of literacy. It is never too early to start reading to your baby.
Reading to your child will help build his vocabulary, will stimulate his imagination, and sets the foundation for his communication skills. It is important that children are exposed to a language-rich environment. Infants who are spoken to frequently become familiar with the rhythms of everyday speech. As a new parent, you should talk to your baby as often as you can. Reading is a really fun way to add variety to the language your baby needs to hear each day.
Of course, no matter what age your child is, reading together means precious one-on-one time. Shared reading experiences with a loving caregiver or parent provides great opportunities for cuddling and bonding...and it just feels good! In the process, your baby will come to bond with books, too, as she associates them with these great experiences with you. This bonding and comfort with books right from birth will lead to a lifelong love and appreciation of books and reading and to a head start in the learning process.
How do I know the books are safe for my baby?
This is a great question. The publishers of Early Moments have been designing and manufacturing books for very young children for more than 40 years. Long before children’s product safety was a headline issue, we were taking every step possible to ensure the safety of our products, and we continue to do so today.
- Our products are thoroughly tested by independent laboratories to meet all published American ASTM safety standards.
- We never use toxic paints, inks, or materials.
- We use the highest quality boards and paper for our books.
- None of our books have removable parts that could present a hazard to your baby.
How does Early Moments know which books are best suited for
my child’s age?
The publishers of Early Moments have been creating age-appropriate books for very young children for more than 40 years! We have done extensive research on child development and literacy development. But, no amount of research is as valuable in creating the right books as is our experience serving literally millions of families like yours in the United States and throughout Europe for so many years.
Our shared reading book packages are only sold directly to parents, not through any retail stores anywhere. As a result, we receive plenty of direct feedback...good and bad...about each package we send. We use that feedback to constantly change our programs: introducing new books, phasing out old ones, and moving around packages to the point where the most parents tell us they are enjoying the best experience with our programs. That’s why we’ve been so successful for so long. Key to that continued success is that caring parents like you give us your comments on how our programs are working in your home.
