Based on the 1981 animated movie, this thrilling tale centers around a young orphaned fox, Tod, who is adopted by an old widow. When the fox befriends Copper, the hound puppy who lives next door, the owners of the two pets are surprised and exasperated by the unlikely friendship of the two animals, who are supposed to be natural enemies. As Tod and Copper grow older, their friendship ultimately becomes more challenging and dangerous, but their loyalty to one another endures even the biggest obstacles.
Tie-in Activity: Ask your child to pinpoint the differences between her and her friends. Encourage her to recognize how those differences have enhanced, rather than impaired, those friendships.
